Extractions

An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding. Dr. Todd Leipnitz does a fair amount of tooth extractions at our office. With nitrous oxide and anesthetic we are able to extract a tooth or teeth in a comfortable manner. After an extraction you will need to rest and you may need to be driven home by a friend or family member. You can expect the extraction site to bleed for a bit but if bleeding continues for longer than 24 hours you should call our office. Rest when you return home, but do not lie flat.

You will be limited to soft foods for a few days after your surgery. Some recommended foods are:

  • Gelatin
  • Pudding
  • Yogurt
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Ice Cream
  • Thin Soups
  • ...and other food you can eat without chewing.

For more complex extractions, Leipnitz Dental may refer you to one of several oral surgeons who have convenient locations throughout west central Wisconsin. To schedule a consult or appointment, please call us at 715-235-7371
